Electrical & Automation Specialist
Client Overview: Our client is a global industrial manufacturer with operations in North America. To support a highly automated U.S. production facility, they are seeking multiple Electrical & Automation Specialists to strengthen technical support within the plant.
Mission: The Electrical & Automation Specialist supports and optimizes automation-driven production systems to ensure maximum equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and uptime.
This role partners closely with Maintenance and Production teams to troubleshoot complex electrical and PLC-based systems, strengthen automation capabilities within the facility, and support continuous improvement initiatives in a high-performance manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Automation & Electrical Troubleshooting
Provide hands-on support for PLC-driven production systems and automated equipment
Troubleshoot electrical systems, robotics, sensors, drives, and packaging automation
Ensure rapid resolution of automation-related downtime in a 24/7 production environment
- Equipment Reliability & Uptime
Support maintenance teams in improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
Optimize automation systems to improve reliability and reduce operational losses
Assist in diagnosing recurring equipment failures and implementing corrective actions
- Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
Partner with maintenance supervisors and technicians to strengthen automation knowledge within the team
Contribute to Lean Manufacturing and TPM initiatives
Support preventive and corrective maintenance strategies related to automation systems
- New Installations & System Integration
Assist with startup and integration of new automated production lines
Support commissioning and validation of automation equipment
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure technical standards and system performance
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering) with minimum 5 years manufacturing experience OR Journeyman Electrical Certification with 15 years of industrial electrical and automation experience
Extensive experience as a senior-level troubleshooter in manufacturing electrical systems
In-depth knowledge of low, medium, and high voltage electrical installations
Strong expertise in PLCs, HMIs, motion control systems, VFDs, and industrial networking protocols
Experience managing OT networks and automation infrastructure
Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
Understanding of industrial IT systems and automation cybersecurity
Knowledge of food manufacturing operations and regulatory standards preferred
Strong understanding of electrical safety, food safety (GMP), and regulatory compliance
