Plant Controller
Client Overview: Our client is a global company focused on highly engineered products serving regulated and industrial end markets. The company has partnered with us on a Plant Controller search supporting a key manufacturing operation in the US.
Job title: Plant Controller
Mission: The Plant Controller will serve as a key member of the plant’s operation team and is responsible for providing operational financial leadership and analysis to support plant management in making sound, data-based business decisions and improving profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the Major Responsibilities, including the following:
Responsible for all financial reporting, accounting, and controls at assigned location(s)
Monitors the day-to-day financial activity of assigned site(s) and reports status to meet both short and long-term financial goals
Manages and continuously improves finance function at assigned location(s)
Responsible for in-depth analysis of manufacturing variances
Oversees and maintains various analyses and account reconciliations, both on a consolidated and per entity basis, to support all account balances
Works with management on the planning process including the strategic plan, the tactical plan and budget and ensuring the execution of the tactical plan and budget
Responsible for and manages individual department budgets, both creation and monitoring
Prepares reports to management including profit/losses, costs, and other analytics
Creates reports through ERP systems using Excel programs to develop data, charts, and graphs
Manages inventory assessments and audits
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) from a four-year college or university.
Experience in the medical device industry is desirable.
Verifiable track record of achievement in a finance position that strongly contributes to increasing enterprise value.
Experienced and versatile using Microsoft Office Products including Excel.
Prefer more than five years’ experience of hands-on positions in finance and manufacturing operations.
Demonstrated experience with a fact-based approach to decision making and will be a critical thinker whose strong teaming skill are matched by their ability to constructively challenge assumptions and influence others.
Leader of both people and projects. The ability to conceptualize and implement tactical plans is critical.
A clear track record of helping line leaders understand and improve their cost structures, increase their profitability, and capitalize on growth opportunities.
Excellent communication skills, including well developed written, interpersonal, presentation and negotiation abilities.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Experience with calculating cost of goods sold.
Understanding of design, development, and marketing quotes and prices.
Ability to solve practical mathematical problems using spreadsheets, calculators, and collaborations with engineering and finance.
