Client Overview: Our client is leading in the Automotive manufacturing industry and to support their operations we have been called on to recruit a Business Unit Controller.
Job title: Business Unit Controller
Mission: The Business Unit Controller is responsible for driving a strong control environment and no-surprise culture within their manufacturing sites. This position is a bridge between the operational &
financial functions of the organization and would suit individuals
who have demonstrated ownership and accountability for delivering results in a
matrix environment or working as a business partner to operational functions
to jointly drive organizational success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage site industrial and financial performance through daily, weekly, monthly and yearly indicators and tools
- Ensure accuracy of management control and costing information in the ERP system of the site
- Ensure reliability of site gross margin and site below gross margin expenses during closing process
- Provide all supporting information for closing entries (cut off adjustments, accruals, risk estimates).
- Promote, explain, control Internal Control framework within his/her perimeter. Monitor and drive Internal Control improvement plans to mitigate risks
- Implement key internal control processes regarding site assets (physical counts)
- Monitor site productivity plans (labor, overheads, material).
- Monitor manufacturing launch of R&D projects in coordination with R&D centers of the group
- Monitor products ramp downs/end of life
- Manage site accounting team
- Support shared services centers implementation
- Elaborate and report all information related to profitability analysis by product.
- Support sales and R&D management control as well as project managers by ensuring proper supply of all costing information from sites.
- Site interface for tax credit, R&D grants and subsidies.
- Prepares statutory accounts and monthly financial reporting in line with USGAAP
- Manage monthly tax charge and annual tax returns
- Ensure accurate monthly tax declaration (VAT; customs & duties…)
- Coordinates information on all changes in local regulation principles regarding accounting and taxes
- Ensure monthly closing files elaboration with appropriate supporting documentation
- Controls and manages all payroll entries & accruals and payroll interface in the ERP
- Ensure accurate documentation of all provisions and employee benefits (pensions)
- Reconciliation of USGAAP/Statutory equity
- Prepare and ensure accurate reporting in Oracle of IS and BS
- Supervision of complete accounting ledgers (receivables, payables, fixed assets, general )
- Promote, explain, control Internal Control framework within his/her perimeter. Monitor and drive Internal Control improvement plans to mitigate risks
- Create/Update accounting procedures,
- Prepare and ensure relevant documentation for external auditors and tax auditors
- Supports documentation for grant, tax credit and subsidies
- People management: Supports in the training and career development of finance people. Creates a proactive team within his/her perimeter and help identifying high potentials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Accounting or Finance or related field of study with applicable experience
- 5 to 7 years experience in either a projects business (preferred) or manufacturing plant
- Strong sense of ownership & accountability – with demonstrated ability to deliver success whilst working with an operational business partner
- Ability to build relationships while challenging and pro-actively driving improvements and change
- Encourages a team spirit of continuous development and learning from mistakes; actively seeks feedback on his / her own behavior
- Promotes respect for different cultures, mentalities and attitudes and fosters diversity in his / her team
- Demonstrates an inquisitive nature with exceptional analytical, critical reasoning, and communication skills
- Desire to understand the product/solutions and not just the numbers
- Strong demonstrated use of ERP Module, Excel and PowerPoint
