Production Supervisor
Client Overview: Our client is a leading producer of finned heat exchangers for commercial and industrial applications and a front-runner in the development of equipment for natural refrigerants.
Job title: Production Supervisor
Mission: The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity targets are met. This role oversees production teams on assigned shifts, provides hands-on leadership on the shop floor, and ensures compliance with company standards and procedures. The Production Supervisor plays a key role in developing team members, optimizing workflow, and maintaining our client’s high standards of operational excellence
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
Supervise, train, and motivate production employees to achieve performance, safety, and quality goals.
Assign daily work tasks, monitor output, and ensure production schedules are met.
Conduct shift start-up meetings to communicate goals, priorities, and safety reminders.
Address attendance, performance, and conduct issues in partnership with HR and management.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment built on respect, accountability, and teamwork.
Production Oversight
Monitor machine operation, workflow, and material availability to minimize downtime.
Ensure proper setup, operation, and maintenance of production lines and equipment.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, scrap, and downtime.
Support cross-training initiatives to maintain flexibility and staffing efficiency.
Coordinate with maintenance and engineering to address equipment or process issues quickly.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Enforce all safety regulations and promote a culture of zero incidents.
Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
Verify product quality through inspection and compliance with work instructions.
Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and company policies.
Continuous Improvement
Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
Recommend process improvements and support new equipment or process implementation.
Encourage employee participation in improvement ideas and problem-solving activities.
Administrative & Reporting
Maintain accurate production records, attendance logs, and shift reports.
Monitor inventory usage and communicate material shortages or needs.
Prepare shift handoff documentation to ensure smooth transition between shifts.
Support scheduling and workforce planning to meet customer delivery expectations.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
At least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Experience in HVAC, heat exchanger, or metal fabrication industry preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
Ability to read blueprints, work orders, and technical specifications.
Proficiency with ERP or production tracking systems.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to moderate noise, machinery, and temperature variations.
Use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, ear protection) required.
May require working evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed to meet production goals.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
Lift and move materials up to 50 lbs. as needed.
Frequent bending, stooping, and manual handling of production components.
